What’s It All About?

Isn’t there just some sky-like boundless clarity, and that’s all? Something, free of all concepts, free of all associations with everything false, mortal, and temporary? Something unsullied by being “born”? Simply the original nature, uncreated, never moving from that which it always is and always has been?

Doesn’t it seem impossible that there would not be some completely pure, completely untouched reality here – somehow, somewhere – within which all questions are answered, all problems are vanquished?

Isn’t that what we want? To know that there exists something within which all is resolved, all is settled, all is perfect already? Within which our personal petty problems are less than a speck of dust? Total freedom, total peace?

This is what there is, right now. This is all there ever is. Sky-like original nature, never born, but yet all there is. No mind exists that is not simply this nature. Nothing arises within mind that is not simply this – sky-like, formless, boundless, and pure.

Any thought arising right now is simply arising within this, from this. There is nothing separate from this pure Unborn. “My mind” is an oxymoron. You own nothing, you are nothing, you control nothing. You are nothing but this original Innate that never becomes anything. It always is simply that – the original, pure, unborn state.

When it is tempting to “go” somewhere with a thought, and fix the thought-problem arising in mind currently, notice that there is nowhere to go. Notice that this original, unborn nature is at the bottom of it all. This is behind everything. Nothing comes before. Nothing can think of it, because that thought is within it.

So where will you go? What will you fix? Mind is this; mind is not yours. So with whose mind do you intend to fix something? With whose mind do you intend to “get” this? When you “get” this, where will you be? You will be this, sky-like, unborn, never having left the original innate nature. Just as you are now.

All the questions can be dropped; they won't get you anywhere. Abide in this. All the problems can be seen as meaningless. Abide in this. Don’t fall for the trap that these words are mystical and this understanding is out of reach. These words carry no secret meaning that has to be deciphered – the meaning is exactly as simple as it sounds: This is it. This is all there is. You as an individual do not and never did exist.

So when the tendency is to mentally circle around needs, problems, and questions – when that familiar feeling of discomfort in the body arises, from a fear, a regret, a desire – notice that all of it is washed away in this simple, present knowing that you don’t own anything. Turn over your house key and step into the void, each moment. Know nothing, own nothing, need nothing. Be no one. You are the Original Innate, and that’s all you ever were.
