War is Not Present Now
This amazing miracle of crystal clear awareness is all there is. It is aware of itself, and that’s all. The mind misconstrues what’s going on and says, “It’s my awareness.” That’s okay. It doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t make awareness “yours.” You’re not responsible for “being” aware, because there is no entity “you.”
You think it matters what you see. It doesn’t matter what you see. Turn your attention away from the seen and toward the seeing itself. How can this seeing be happening? Perfectly clear impersonal seeing, impersonal knowing, takes all in without judging it. It doesn’t matter what sights appear, what sensations come in. It doesn’t matter what thoughts, what feelings come in. It can be good or bad, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter what the body is doing or going through. It doesn’t matter if there is physical pain. The awareness of all these things is always crystal clear.
You think you see a world of war and injustice and cruelty. Is this true? You think war is bad. In order to make that judgment, you have to call on a whole lot of things in memory – education, moral tenets you believe, ideas of who you are – all of which reside in the past.
No past exists. In your present experience it is clearly seen that now is the only time there is. This is awareness. Awareness knows no past, no future. Awareness knows only now. So how can any so-called travesty be judged as bad, when awareness has no memory of what would make it so? Only you believe in memory. Memory gives the impression that things are happening, and that things matter. Neither are true.
